CODA

CODA

Large Marine Two stroke engines rely on the proper feeding of Cylinder Oil for their lubrication. Cylinder Oil is called upon to protect the combustion section of the engine from damages that may originate from causes such as mechanical wear or cold corrosion.

The Cylinder Oil and other combustion impurities collected into each main engine cylinders scrape down, contains valuable detailed information on the engines operating conduction and this information is key to the preventive maintenance of the engine.

NAIAS LABS offer the Cylinder Oil Drain Analysis (CODA) program.

  • Scrape down samples are collected separately from each cylinder, along with peripheral fuel and lubricants samples and are sent to NAIAS LABS for an in depth analysis and assessment. Results are presented in a concise and easy to understand final report.
  • Assistance in the proper monitoring of engines condition, as per OEMs recommendations, is provided to operators.

International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) – Compliance Audits & Training

Support for operators in the sustainable marine fuel value chain

International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a globally applicable sustainability certification system, which covers all sustainable feedstocks, including agricultural and forestry biomass, bio-based and circular materials and renewables.

ISCC offers several sustainability schemes for energy, such as ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS. ISCC EU is recognised by the EU Commission to validate sustainability criteria in fuel. The scheme’s extensive measures will check-off the end-to-end needs in maintaining credible sustainability practices along its supply chain. With the ISCC EU recognised under the EU’s revised Renewable Energy Directive (“RED III”) as well as other major energy markets, the certification is set to play a major role under the FuelEU Maritime regulation, among others, and beyond.

Why choose ISCC Certification to help achieve Maritime sustainability goals?

The approach of ISCC schemes encapsulates critical aspects, which work in tandem with the EU regulatory adherence and associated documentary requirements such as:

  • Lifecycle Assessment: Examines emissions at production, use, and end.
  • Proof of Sustainability (PoS) Documents: Provides supporting documentation to validate that Biofuels batches are traceable to their sustainable feedstocks.
  • Annual Audits: Includes annual audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards.

Sustainable marine fuels covered under ISCC Certification include:

  • Biofuels (such as FAME, bio-methanol and other liquid fuels for the transport sector produced from bio-based feedstocks)
  • Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO)
  • Recycled Carbon Fuels (RCF)

Maritec-Naias offers holistic training and consultancy services to Energy Traders supplying sustainable marine fuel. We train and enable clients to achieve ISCC EU certification necessary to supply sustainable fuel recognised by FuelEU Maritime (and RED II) to reduce penalties and required EU allowances on vessel owners.

Our services & solutions include:

  • Compliance Support – Guidance to meet ISCC requirements for biofuels, biomass, and circular economy materials
  • Training Programs – Hands-on workshops for teams to understand ISCC standards and reporting requirements
  • Certification Assistance – Coordination with the Certification Body including end-to-end support for achieving the ISCC certification with confidence
  • Gap Analysis & Advisory – Identify areas for improvement and prepare for successful audits

Why choose Maritec-Naias?

  • Expert consultants with background in the bunker sector
  • Possess deep understanding of the challenges faced by traders/suppliers and trade practices
  • Highly knowledgeable on other relevant regulatory requirements impacting the bunker sector
