Comprehensive analysis of Scrape Down samples from each cylinder to ensure a superior level of preventive maintenance

Large marine two-stroke engines depend on the correct supply of cylinder oil for effective lubrication. Cylinder oil plays a crucial role in safeguarding the combustion area of the engine against mechanical wear and damage from cold corrosion.

The cylinder oil, along with other combustion contaminants gathered from each main engine cylinder scrape down, offers significant and unmatched insights into the engine’s operational condition. This data is vital for the reliable preventive maintenance of the engine.

Maritec-Naias provides the Cylinder Oil Drain Analysis (CODA) programme in addition to our LubeCheck Programme, which encompasses the following:

  • Scrape down samples are individually collected from each cylinder and dispatched, along with other peripheral fuel and lubricant samples, to the Maritec-Naias laboratory for thorough analysis and evaluation.
  • The findings are delivered in a clear and easily comprehensible final report.
  • Support is offered to operators for the effective monitoring of engine conditions, in accordance with the recommendations of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
